WE RISE LA Open Call Exhibition 2019

In 2019, I entered the We Rise LA exhibition as a contributing artist. Out of the hundreds of online submissions, I was picked as 1 of 15 open call winners. It was an amazing experience and opportunity to be able to showcase my artwork online and attend the LA gallery.

For those that do not not, WE RISE is a movement that focuses "to break through barriers and defy old assumptions about mental health and the many related social conditions that compound problems and hurt our communities. Together we can fix a broken system.

The WHY WE RISE campaign is an ongoing project of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, serving the 10 million people of LA County with education and prevention programs and providing mental health-related services to over 250,000 people each year, offering connection, hope, recovery and wellbeing.

Funding for this campaign was authorized by an unanimous motion of the County Board of Supervisors, using a portion of allocated state tax funds earmarked for prevention and early intervention. These state mental health dollars were made possible by the voters of California who passed Prop 63 in order to increase funding for mental health services." (https://whywerise.la/about/)

I am truly thankful for all the opportunities that I have been able to experience during the 2019 year as I grew as a professional artist and made so many new friends in the art community. I hope that you will continue to create and advocate for positive mental health! There is so much more we can do! Empower Greatness!
